Day 19

Got up and got going around 8:30.  Went to the Alaska Sea Life Center in Seward. Had some great exhibits. Headed out of Seward to visit the Exit Glacier Park, about 15 miles down the road.  Signs in the park marked where the glacier had originally been during previous years. At my birthday year, it was about 1.2 miles (my estimation) larger. We traveled again on the Seward Highway towards Anchorage.  Along the route, approximately around Beluga Point, we ran into a herd of Dall sheep.  The pictures show what they really looked like compared to the white dots of the pictures we showed in Denali Park.  Next we stopped at a bird viewing area in Anchorage called Potter Marsh State Game Reserve. Saw lots of birds and a beaver. We got into Anchorage and headed to the Glenn Highway traveling toward Glennallen. The drive was great even though it was raining on and off.  At mile 70 we came across a couple of Golden Eagles and Bald Eagles. It looked like they were fighting. At mile 100 we could see the Matanuska Glacier. This glacier at one time was over 50 miles long and formed the area where we are traveling. The Glenn Highway follows the Matanuska River. At some point we reached over 4000 feet in altitude. It’s fun to see the temperature go up and down in the mountains. Got some great pictures.  We finally found a place to park our RV--the Sheep Mountain Lodge.  Once again it’s a beautiful view from our living room.  Our plan is to drive to Valdez tomorrow and then start back up towards Tok.  Originally we had planned on taking the ferry to Valdez, but changed our minds.

ANDY’S REPORT.
Up and at’em this morning.  The peeps drove back into the big town. Left me for guard duty AGAIN! Came out and seemed a little grumpy. We then stopped at a food place. Dad went in and of course came out with the mermaid lady and a big smile.  Drove a little more, then back to guard duty.  Peeps came back and off we went.  Drove in the moving house for a good while, mom made some crazy turn, dad yelling, ouch, then I see these funny looking white things on the side of the hill, for sure not cousins. Gave them a little woof, and off we go. Dad told me no late dinner this day, we stopped. The peeps went in, Mom came out and fed me, whew, I was hungry.  Then dad showed up carrying some bags with some type of food in it, they gave me nibbles. Off we go riding through the rain and some clouds.  We finally stop on top of a big hill, dad parks the moving house.  Get to go for a walk, they even had grass.  Was a little cold and wet.  Dad had to clean me up a little.  Would not let me in bed with muddy feet hee hee! Really tired tonight, too much guard duty. Goodnight.
Can a guy get a lift?

 Where's dad?

Maybe a nice place to walk!
