Day 21

Got off to a good start this morning.  I’m sitting in the front of the RV and a big moose comes strolling by less than 15 feet away. Of course we can’t get the cameras out to take a good pic. Boogers!  We continued on the Tok cutoff headed for the city of Tok.  Stopped in Tok for gas and shopping.  At this point we got back on the Alaska Hwy at a point we had not traveled previously.  We then headed for the border. Right before the border, we spot a mother moose and her calf drinking water along with some more  Trumpeter Swans.  Our path along the highway followed the Wrangell Mountain Range. Then we entered the Kluane National Forest, which travels along the Icefield Mountain Range.  We saw some beautiful scenery again.  One was Lake Kluane. We drove the shore line for about 35 miles.  The lake had white caps it was so large.  Arrived in Haines Junction around 5:30 pm, got to eat and relax for the next day.

ANDY’S REPORT
Darn I hated leaving this place, it was like home.  We loaded up and headed out, AGAIN!  Did the ole drive stop, look, and do it again shuffle.  We stopped at some place on the road and the peeps got all excited. All I saw was some funny looking cows drinking water with some big water birds.  Continued driving on some really bumpy road.  The guy we talked to at the drive thru had some funny voice.  He also did not give me a cookie.  Stopped along the road and saw some cold white stuff. Had to check that out. Then we stopped at another lot with lots of moving houses.  Mom made spaghetti, I got a few nibbles, then off to bed. Goodnight.
Drive, stop, look!

Is it nap time yet?

What's this cold white stuff?

I call shotgun!

  1. Once again ... some great pictures. I will check out you Flickr account later. I'm just getting ready to head out for a couple of weeks and will have to pick up where I leave off tonight ... about another 1/2 hours of reading then off to bed.

Very enjoyable blog and great photos ... just whets my appetite to start planning my own Alaska Adventure.
