Day 27

Up and at ‘em this morning.  Had a couple of stops we wanted to make and a long drive.  Drove into Prince George, BC, picked up some breakfast and headed for Cache Creek. Started on the Cariboo Hwy which runs along the same named mountain range.  We drove for about an hour and stopped in Quesnel.  They had an observation tower for one of their wood products' mills.  Was fascinating  seeing the trucks come in with new timber,  shaved logs being seasoned and marked.  Then new cut lumber drying and then being plastic wrapped to be shipped. Pretty neat!   Stopped at the Cariboo Wood shop. Thought it might be interesting, but ended up mainly a store selling a lot of things made in China. As our journey continued we noticed more and more differences in the land.  More and more farms and fields for hay.  We then stopped at the Tourism Discovery Center, a beautiful building at Williams Lake.  We left there and continued on to Cache Creek where we picked up some burgers and ate on the road.  The scenery got even more different.  The small mountains were getting more and more bare and the grasses were all dried up.  Not the most scenic drive and to top off that, it was really hazy most of the day.  About an hour out of Cache Creek we intersected the Fraser River and started following it on the road.  It also was the Lillooet Mountain Range.  The scenery changed from blah, back to wonderful.  The river was cutting a huge gorge through the area.  On both sides were railway lines which had trains running both directions. The engineering and construction of these lines was awesome.  We then made it to Boston Bar where we stopped for the night.  Actually got here early enough to enjoy the weather. Speaking of temperature, it was 43 degrees this morning and was 89 degrees when we arrived here.  I guess our cool days and nights are over.  We get up tomorrow and head for Seattle and our last day in Canada. Both of us are getting a little tired, but still enjoying the trip. Looking forward tomorrow to see our grandson, Bacchus, and of course, our daughter, Jamie too!

ANDY’S REPORT:
Another great night’s sleep. Nothing like snuggling to stay warm. Peeps got going fairly early, drove back into the city, and yes, went and saw the mermaid lady. Off we went.  Our first stop was at some place that was very noisy and did not smell great.  They had a lot of trees, but they were laying on the ground and looked funny.  We then stopped at some store and of course mom went shopping.  She came out with something sweet and yummy—I got a few nibbles. Dad and I walked around for awhile.  I have really enjoyed the good roads we are on.  It is so easy to take a napper now. The peeps stopped in some city, dad ran into a store and got us some food.  While dad was gone, mom gave me some chow.  Love those early meals.  Dad came back with burgers. Rats and did not bring me one.  Drove to the lot with many moving houses.  This place was great had tons of trees in it and even a back yard for me to play in.  We all sat outside awhile, dad took me for a late walk and it’s time for bed.  I did notice it is starting to get hotter, I miss that cool weather. Goodnight.
These logs are useless!

Let's get out of here!

Did someone say fudge?

  1. Surprised to see it that warm (89º) in that area that time of the year ... not my kind of travelling weather.

Do you have and if so do you use the A/C in the RV often?
