Day 24

Got up after a good night’s sleep.  Donna went over to the office to download the new blog.  Andy and I got the RV ready to go. Headed back on the Alaska Highway towards Watson Lake. Weather was a little dreary so picture taking was slow.  About 30 miles from Watson Lake we took the Cassiar Highway towards Prince Rupert.   Stopped at Jade City so Donna could look at some of the jade products. Around 2 pm the weather cleared and made the drive much more enjoyable.  At Dease Lake we stopped gassed up and hit the grocery store. Stopped by the Tanzilla River and ate dinner very nice. Started to see some nice scenery, again! Ha! Ha!   We have been reading about the beetle infestation in British Columbia.  Today you could really see the damage.  We posted a few pictures and hope you can see the damage.  There were thousands and thousands of acres of damage that we have been seeing all over Canada.  Got to our camp ground around 6ish, it has been the nicest RV park so far. The view is spectacular.

ANDY’S REPORT:
Went for a walk with dad and then we got the house ready.  Mom finally showed up and had some sandwiches. Took off down the road.  Road was a little bumpy for a while and the house kept going from side to side. Made it little hard to take a napper.  Stopped at some place with lots of big rocks. Dad and I walked  around. We made a stop and the peeps went inside a food house. Came back and off we went again. Stopped at a moving water place and dad made macarooni and cheese. Got a few nibbles. We then arrived at the place with lots of moving houses. The peeps took me for a walk to a water place. Saw some big white thing, thought it was going to get us, so I had to give it a bark.  I bet you could hear that one a long way. I could. Back to the moving house and off to bed. Goodnight.
Do I smell dinner?

Another new place, more new smells at the Tanzilla River

Woof! Woof! I'll get the big white monster!

Did the white thing get you dad?

  1. The damage to the forests is incredible and sad to see. The section of Cassiar Highway was bizarre. Did you actually have to travel on that??

What kind of rates were you paying at the campgrounds ... just curious. I generally boondock everywhere I go and have never really stayed at campgrounds.

  2. Are there many boondocking places along the Alaska Highway between Dawson Creek and say into Fairbanks?
