Our trip plans

  1. I read with interest the number of miles you travelled on specific days. I gather you were on a mission, so to speak. I generally only travel 300-400 miles a day maximum. When I come to some interesting place or my photography slows me down I might only make 50-100 miles per day.

I just started reading your blog and was directed here from a link on "Merle and Me Hit the Road's Blog. I am planing a trip to Alaska in two years and am looking forward to reading about your adventure. I plan to take 3-4 months on my trip ... more if necessary.

  2. Karen,,, glad you like the blog...couple of points, being first time to Alaska wanted to see as much as possible. Never know if you can get back. We drove a lot getting there slowed down mileage wise or tried once we got to Canada... I read lots and lots.. we wanted to travel when it was cool ( hehe it was) got to see a lot of fall colors,,, I thought it would be more crowded, was not,, I had reservations first week.. one RV park there were two units in it,,, some of the parks were even closing as we headed home.. it was also scary as we drove North and nearly all the traffic was headed South.. was trip of life time,,, we are planning on going back 2/3 years,, this time will spend same amount of time 5/6 weeks,, but stay in a couple of places lot longer,, we want to go back to Jasper,, spend couple of days,, Denali 4/5 days,,, want to go down to the Kenai area spend 4/5 days,,, I want to do some hiking and fishing... have questions feel free to contact me on email... a lot of people helped me and I do not mind returning the favor

  3. Hi Dave ... thanks for your reply ... I too prefer to travel in the cooler weather. I hate having to use the generator for A/C. It (the generator) is too loud ... as is the A/C. And I hate the crowds as well. I'll be following your journey closely as I continue to read to see your thoughts on the weather and that time of the year to go to Alaska.

I've had so many people tell me the best time to go is June, July and August ... but they are also the busiest as I see it.

Thanks much for the offer of assistance. Are you on: Roadtreking: The Group on Facebook. Even though I don't have a Roadtrek I joined to share in the overall Class B experience and have meet several of the group at various B rallies and Social gatherings. In fact, I'm heading to Counsel Grove, Kansas in September for a BEE Social Group gathering ... they're on FB as well.
