Day 4
We had a good nights sleep again with the windows open, got up early, but Donna had so many chores to do it took us a while to get going, departed around 8:30ish, found our SB’s and headed north. Got stuck on Montana Hwy 3 for road construction several times. Traveling today, we have never seen so many bales of hay--some all over the fields and others stacked high on top of each other! Also lots of grain, cows, horses, sheep, and elk. Exciting today going thru Coutts, Alberta at the border and entering Canada at mile 2068, no problem at customs,  asked Donna if she had any tobacco products, she answered NO, then she worried, what if they inspect the car? Told her you don’t have any I do.   Drove to Magrath, Alberta. It’s about 25 miles from Lethbridge  where we'll do a couple of stops on Day 5.  A slight difference in the country side as we got into Canada, it seemed cleaner and not as dry,  gentleman at the campground said it’s  going to be nice and cool the rest of the week. Was about 93 degrees and the wind howling all the way up from Billings and around 87 when we got here,  They had a nice nature trail next to the camp so we took a walk on it when we arrived. Donna is doing laundry one loonie and two toonies  $1.50 a load, by the way had to pay a buck to take a shower.
Donna is starting to get a little tired of these 400 to 500 mile days.  I told her one more, then we really will get into the trip. Going to be fun tomorrow, Lethbridge, then to Jasper National Park.

Not much to say..did not care too much for the park last night,  no good places to walk,  had some new smells, I tried to eat some guys tomatoes but dad would not let me. Boogers!  Time for the moving house and more driving! Whew! Another long day. Got to the border sort of barked at the lady in the booth, she then asked for my papers, luckily the peeps remembered to bring them or I guess I would be in a kennel for a month.. got to the new park, took a long walk, had a snacker and I am out  Good Night !!!

Day 3

Nothing like a good night's sleep. We both went to bed at 10 p.m. with no AC, night air low of 57 degrees, opened up the windows and had a good night's sleep! We both felt much better! Up at 6 a.m. walked Andy boy, ate some breakfast, gas uped, hit a local Safeway for some items, and, of course, SB’s!! Headed up I-25 toward Casper, Wyoming, then stopped for the night in Billings, Montana...finally a lot better scenery! Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas were pretty boring, especially since we have traveled them numerous times.  Weather has been great so far, cannot get over how 93 degrees feels like 80 degrees in Houston! No humidity sure makes a difference. Also, can't believe we can't get out of 90+ degrees temperatures no matter how far we travel north. When we arrived in Cheyenne yesterday, it was 93 and today it was 98 when we arrived in Billings!! .

Saturday, August 18th
Well, we are getting nervous and excited! Our trip is one week away. I'm already having trouble sleeping. We have so many things to do since we will be gone for so long. Our house is a mess (as usual) as we make stacks of things we want to remember. We have several lists as reminders and we are working on projects each day to get us closer to departure. Malcolm says the bus is leaving at 5 a.m. next Saturday with or without me!! So no bridge this week. My time will be devoted to getting ready with the exception of a few scheduled events!

Our itinerary says that we will be going to Portland, but that really should be Seattle. One of my favorite bridge partners, Fred, is a member of AAA and he got trip books for us with our entire route outlined. That is going to be awesome to use! Not only do we have several map books, but he also got us some campground books, coupon books and travel guides to each area that we visit...two tote bags full!! Thank you, Fred & Karen!

I have to give you an update on Andy's progress on preparing for the trip. Today we are having a thunderstorm so he is currently hiding somewhere in the house, but, normally, this is typical of his preparation! Must be nice!!

Our trip plans

We are counting down the days! 18 days until departure! We have a lot to do to get ready for our trip. This is how Andy is getting ready.
